Quick update - response back from Jessops with an initial quote of £58 to repair the camera. So I've said go ahead !! Hopefully its an easy fix and I can finally start using it in earnest...once I've learned about DSLRs data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Picked up my Nikon from Jessops at lunchtime. All fixed data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Looks like they send it off to Nikon's repair centre in Richmond. They fixed the buttons, replaced the rubber grips and give it a little clean, so now looks in decent nick ! £73 all in.....not too bad I suppose !
Now to start learning how to take photos !!!
