Alternative to Apple Watch

ok, I'm possibly considering moving to Android (hubby & son already there and trying to persuade me!), but whilst I'm fine with a phone alternative, I love my Apple Watch. If only Apple allowed android phones to work with the Apple Watch.

So I've been looking at various android smart watches, but they all seem quite "manly".

Things I like about my Apple Watch:
Good size for my wrist - an alternative should be no larger than 42mmLove the different interchangeable colourful sports strapsApple Pay on watch - works flawlesslyGet notifications for e-mails, texts, Facebook, eBay alerts on my watchThe ability to quickly respond to texts/messages directly from the watchCalendar notifications alerted, and also to have my next appt on the watch faceLogging of excercises on the watchSo, can anyone recommend any android alternatives that meet the above please?

Many thanks in advance

I recently changed from iPhone /apple Watch to android and have no regrets.

The apple pay and watch size will be the stumbling blocks to your list.

I have had several android wear watches and never really liked any until I got the Huawei watch. It may possibly be too thick for your liking and it is expensive.

If you are happy with the iPhone / apple Watch combo what would be the reason to change.

Thanks. I notice the Huawei is about half a cm thicker but that may not be too much of a issue. Some people are also suggesting that android pay may come in when android wear 2.0 comes in.

I love Apple, but hubby and son are android through and through, and in all honesty, I'd probably like to stick with the apple watch, but have taken a bit of a liking to the Samsung edge. As I've said, if only Apple would allow Apple watch to be used with an android phone.

I'm still not fully convinced android is for me, and probably when watch os3 is released, I'll wonder why I ever thought about android!

Im not going to rush into anything - will prob take a look at the Huawei watch in PC world some time soon.

Thanks

My question would be; why do you have to change? Is there any reason you all have to use Android as a family?

melmorc Publish time 2-12-2019 06:36:47

Not really. Hubby would like us all on the same platform, and I've been looking at the Samsung s7 curve/edge phone and quite like the design, and probably as I've been with Apple since the 3G, I'm thinking is a change overdue for me??

My worry would be I would move over to android, not like it and it could be an expensive "dabble".

I'm not going to do anything until watch os3 is released anyway (I think!)

I had used iPhones for years and tried to make the move to android on a couple of occasions without success.

As I mentioned earlier I tried again a few weeks ago and purchased a Moto X Force which has been a phone that ticks all the boxes. The purchase of the Huawei watch last week made for the perfect combination.

There is eight in my family all with iPhones and I was the first to change.Facetime and imessage alternative can be found within Facebook.

Have you tried hubby's or the boys phone to see if you would like the change.

From reading your posts it seems that moving from iOS is an issue as well as changing watch.

Another thing to consider is the different android experience from manufacturers who add their own touches.

Thanks. I don't think the phone (and using android) would be the issue. It's the smart watch element that I would miss. But as you say, Huawei watch seems to be ok. I think I'd need a play with the watch to see if I like it (and hubby/son not interested in the watch aspect).
I know a smart watch is not an essential item, but having had my Apple Watch since release day, I'd miss it!

Have a look at the Pebble Round - nice and small and not manly. It won't compare to the Apple Watch for screen or apps, but it's good for notifications and can support apple or android. Much cheaper as well

Thank you. Agree it's nice and small but not my cup of tea.

Thank you anyway.
