While the first mention of card is UHS-I, the shots at maximum burst chart (page 7) note UHS-II (High-speed (UHS-II). I'm therefore interpreting High-speed writing is supported when a UHS-I compatible SD card is used as a minimum requirement for high speed writing, not an indication of the cards supported.
Four RF-mount lenses kick off Canon's new full-frame mirrorless system
The RF 28-70mm F2L USM will cost $2,999 and will be available in December. The RF 24-105mm F4L IS USM will also be available in December for $1099 ($3399 as a kit with the EOS R). The RF 50mm F1.2L USM will cost $2,299 and will start shipping next month, while the RF 35mm F1.8 Macro IS STM will cost $499 and will be available in December.

Canon full-frame mirrorless system debuts with announcement of EOS R
Performance-wise, the EOS R can shoot continuously at 8 fps in AF-S and 5 fps in AF-C 'shooting speed priority' mode. If you want to use 'tracking priority' mode in AF-C the frame rate drops to just 3 fps. The buffer is quite healthy, though, with the ability to save 47 Raw, 78 C-Raw or 100 JPEGs when shooting at full speed with a UHS-II card.
So slow and single UHS-II only - better buffer than the Nikon but a $300 premium over the lower end one.As with the Nikon arguably better video out than the Sonys (10 bit 4:2:2).
The rumours on AF look to be true though and could be something special:
The new Canon EOS R camera features Dual Pixel CMOS Auto Focus with 5,655 manually selectable AF points, supporting AF at up to f/11 with a 384 zone (24x16) real-time metering system. With f/1.2 lenses, the camera astonishingly boasts AF sensitivity in low light in as little as EV-6.
Per engadget though still a 1.7x crop in 4K though !!

It's not just the prices, the 50mm F1.4G is half the size and weight of the 1.8S as well.
I was wrong about the F2 lens though and impressed they've managed to produce that, I'm not that surprised it's so expensive as it must be a difficult lens to produce.I had to chuckle when I saw the prices as some of the rumours were claiming the trump card for Canon was going to be undercutting the others on price...
I really don't see the point in this camera.
There's still no full frame 4K, the 4K still maxes out at 25/30fps, there's no 1080 at 120fps, and there's only 1 card slot.
Oh, and there's still no IBIS.
Its basically a 5D Mark IV without the mirror box that does't take EF lenses without an adapter, and native R mount lenses are going to be hideously expensive too.
So:
- anyone who wants to stick with Canon will see no reason to upgrade.
- people who own lots of EF glass will see the value of their investment plummet as its 'old' and not natively compatible with the 'current'.
The consequence of this is, I think, even more people will switch systems completely.
ok, you get a flippy screen with this new camera, but anyone wanting to switch to mirrorless might aswell just switch to Sony and get a much better featured camera, with a much better sensor, with dual cards AND still save money.
Panasonic I'm sure will do much better, but they'll need time to build up a full frame lens portfolio... unless they play a blinder and make their camera natively EF compatible!!
I'm looking forward to see what Panasonic does, as both Nikon and Canon have made a bit of dogs breakfast of their first efforts.
