I've had various compacts with collapsible zoom lenses in the past and all but one of them died when the lens mechanism went wrong - one was fixed by Canon under warranty but the others were beyond economic repair in their 2nd or 3rd year. The zoom mechanism is fragile and carrying them around in your pocket is a rough life. After trying a couple of compact cameras I have decided to move up a notch so looking at a Nikon d3500 new or a Nikon d5600 I have found second hand with lens kit for not much more than the d3500 I like the movable touchscreen the cheaper camera does not have. I have had a good look at it and it seems in great condition but no original box and charger is not uk not a big deal unless you guys disagree ! I managed to take a few pics and they look fine I also did the shutter count and it has about 635 on it so nothing really. It seems to function fine in the short time I had with it. I could find no damage and the lcd screen is scratch free. No warranty as such but its about half retail price. Any thoughts
Thanks all If it’s a non UK plug then it suggests a grey import. Nothing wrong per se buying grey, but the price should reflect it. New grey price for a D5600 with 18-55mm is £379.
Nikon D5600 Digital SLR Camera AF-P DX Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR Thanks for information that's a good price is the warranty any good with this company I have read up a little on grey imports and I believe Nikon uk would not touch it.
Thanks snerkler I've never dealt with e-infinity but I know others that have and have been very happy with the service. You're right, the warranty is not with Nikon UK and therefore you can't send it in to Nikon for warranty issues, however companies like e-infinity offer their own warranty. I know companies like Panamoz just ask you to send it into Nikon and then pick up the bill for you, but I'm not sure how e-infinity operate their warranty. If you buy used from a UK store the warranty is with the store and not Nikon, and if you buy private you get no warranty at all (unless the original buyer bought from Panama and transfer the warranty)
Recall issues are dealt with by Nikon regardless of where the camera was bought. As with all purchases make sure you do your research prior to purchase. Thanks will do
