Upgrading from IPAD2 to an Android?
Hi all. For the last 5 years my 3 kids have been using an IPAD2 16gb and I've noticed the lack of support from Apple for some new apps/games. I was thinking of selling all three and replacing with a recent Android tablet without having to really add much money on top if at all.Size won't be the driving factor but ideally I would like them to have at least an 8" screen. In terms of capacity 16gb would be sufficient but would more than welcome an additional memory slot.
I've searched around and there seem to be thousands of different Android tablets. I will research to narrow down but wondering in the meantime if anyone can suggest a few worth looking at. I used have a Samsung Android a few years back but got rid of it as the screen wasn't as responsive as the Apple one. I'm assuming things have improved on this front since.
I think the current Ipad 2s we have will probably sell for between £80-110....so that's the budget I will have for the Android replacement.
Thanks in advance On ebay an iPad 2 sells for £54-84.
If you want a good budget tablet you could look at the Amazon Fire HD8. I wouldn’t go for the very cheap 7 inch version. Ah didn't see those prices on eBay. In that case I can sell to cex and get £113 vouchers and exchange those for something. Will take a look at the firehd but I don' think it has android. The Fire tablets are Android with an Amazon skin on top. Most apps are available in the Amazon App Store, or their are ways to get other apps on. Home
As far as I can tell neither the iPad 1 or 2 are supported anymore. Have you checked availability of all the apps/games you use on Google Play ? Have you checked accounts associated with are transferable too ?
Suitable iPad replacements would be iPad 4, Air 1 and 2, Mini 2,3 and 4. And,obviously, any of the current ones. Except for a few of the content providers Netflix, Spotify , Kindle applications and games are not transferred accross platforms.I had a number of such on iPads and just had to repurchase when I moved to Android, but in fairness they are only a few quid each.. so don't break the bank.
