Play Store is stuck in the region where I brought the tablet?

I brought an Android tablet from a store in England, and it defaulted to the Google Play store for England. That was great when I brought it as I got all of the localized English apps without any fuss. Now I can't get it to change to anything else.

I'm not able to see certain apps if they aren't in the English version of the store, or am being redirected to the English versions which isn't always what I want. The languages all default to English, too.

I've set the tablet up to the correct geographic location, the date and time\time zone are correct, and I have the right location set up in the account that I'm signed in to, and the tablet is showing the correct language and correct keyboard, but it is still only showing me the English version of the store with all of the prices in English currency.

My tablet is picking up the correct region everywhere except for the play store which is still stuck in England.

Is this some kind of lockdown that prevents English tablets from being used in other countries, or am I just missing a setting?

There is no Google Play store for England...there is one for the UK.
What country are you located in?
A Google search will show you how to change the Play store region.

I can't change it to any other country. Whatever I do it defaults to UK.

Googling was pretty much the first thing that I tried.

What country are you trying to change it to and where are you located?

I can't change it to be Canada.

I believe it picks up your location from your IP address so unless you're actually over that side of the pond it won't allow you to change it unless you go through a VPN.

If that were true, then anybody who took their tablet on holiday would be forced to change the play store to whatever country they were in at the time, and anybody who used a VPN to get Netflix would find their play store changed as well.

This tablet seems stuck in UK all the time. It even shows UK currency.

Never had this issue on any of my Android devices. For example, when I take my UK devices to the US, the Play Store search results and app updates are based on me being in that territory without having to change any settings manually.

Does this help ? https://www.quora.com/How-can-I-change-my-Google-Play-Store-country

May not be as simple as changing it in one place from a quick look.
