Is Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 10.1 best option for me?
Buy Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 10.1 Inch 16GB Tablet - Black at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for Tablets, iPad, tablets and e-readers, Technology.I'm looking for a tablet with its primary aim being to watch Netflix/Now TV etc. I'm not interested in anything other than screen quality, sound quality and battery life and max budget of £200.
I have been looking around and this is the only one I can see that has good screen, sound and battery. There seem to be some better all rounders but as far as I can see this is the best option for media plus the hinge thing seems very useful as I don't use cases.
Would appreciate feedback from more experienced tablet users as to if there is other tablets around that would better serve my purpose. I would also consider 8" screens I bought one of these early in the year and after an update from Lenovo the battery life tumbled from the advertised 18 hours to less than half that and as I had bought it for my better half to watch videos whilst in hospital then this was a bit of a bummer. Replaced it with the more expensive Samsung S2. But if battery life is not an issue and it is a well known problem after the update then go for it though the battery drain issue might have been addressed by now if this is anything to go by.

Battery drain.
Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Plus - Battery Drain after latest system update - Lenovo Community Thanks for that. Was not aware of that so will give it a miss. Sorry but that information is no longer true even if it were at some point in time. I have this model and am very pleased with its battery life.. i actually have posted a performancegraph taken of its battery life as a function of time.I am using mineconstantly dipping in all day and have no problem. Search through this forum for that evidence. There may have been a problem a year ago but it was sorted by the time i got mine in october and there was an android 7.1 update in early January 2018 which makes it fully current and with no battery problem . The forum to which MrFraggle refers has messages in january 2017. And itappears that messages from febuary 2017 refer to the problem being cured. Note that by September 2017 everything was sorted... That is 2017 not2018....
The other point is that the display and its resolution are first class super for reading magazines and newspapers . It is probably the best screen resolution I have and very good colour for video ...
And its sound particularly via good headphones is astonishingly good on deezer .And youtube and video.. The speakers are loud, other people wax on about how good they are but compared to good headphones they are rubbish... Thank you for that. Going over this again, I'm slightly confused. The links refer to a model that is 'plus'. However the model I linked to is not the plus version. Would your comments regarding battery, screen quality and speaker quality be applicable to the model that I have linked to in OP? Also, your comment re speakers, are they still good to use? A potential scenario could be just my wife and I watching something in the kitchen as we get on with other things so headphones not possible I dont know what model you are interested in but the model i know about is the 10.1 inch yoga 3 plus model which has the very high res screen of 2560X 1600 and uses the snapdragon 652 not the 625 .
I have looked at your referenceand it the greatly inferior low res version ..my advice would be pay the extra .. a 10 inch 1200 x 800screen does not compare with 2560 x1600.
Now the loudspeakers are plenty loud enough but hi fi they are not. Think transistor radio quality so ok for non critical listening..
The nonplus product is very old stock. Maybe 4 years old at this stage.. That changes things as at and around £300 there are a few other options (given that I would be willing to drop to a 8") like the Hauwei Mediapad M5, Samsung S2 and 2018 IPad.
My only concern with the Lenovo would be it is a fair bit older than the IPad (although iPad has inferior speakers) and the Hauwei (which ships with Oreo). The p!us 3 is about 2 years old at this .stage .and has Android 7 ,. I would doubt whether there will be aan official android 8 for this model. I see it as a very balanced offering, .. there are cheaper and there are better, but my opinion is that in the actual areas which matter there is non cheaper which are better.
Apples may be better, it's arguable point, but means buying back into their ecosystem.. there is very little software bloat with the Lenovo. A 8 inch tablet is a different experience than a 10 inch. .. full hd at 1920 is fine at 8 inches, but one can see the difference at 10 inches. The huwei M10 ,with its 4 GB of ram, is starting to move into the premium area.
The simple truth is that all these tablets are compromises I was fortunate enough to get off work on time yesterday and headed off to the store to have a play around. You are absolutely correct regarding the Lenovo being the best balanced.
S2 was good but 8" was possibly a downer given I only want it for media consumption. The 10" is £100 more and I can't justify that given I don't want it for anything other than media and in that respect I don't think te S2 was £100 better than the Lenovo.
iPad I had already tested as I know a lot of people that have one and I have the 2017 in the household anyway. Very good all rounder but IMO media wise Lenovo does it for me.
The main selling point for me is that the Lenovo has the stand thing so I don't need to put a cover on it to make it stand. I hate covers anyway.
Thanks for your help - they didn't have any in store so I will be picking one up tomorrow once the order is delivered to store Oh dear.. the stand hinge thing is the one thing that gets me... I tend to use it more for reading magazines and books and the vertical position is better for that. It also means as I am left handed that I need to hold it in a reversed way....And I then need a stand. But certainly for media use and sitting at a table the stand is great.
If and when the screen gets dirty, the glasses spray available from optical counters is super light spray and a tissue wipe..
