Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Plus disappointment.
Bought this a month or so back and to be honest I am not overly impressed. Mainly because I prefer to use a capacitive pen/stylus call them what you will and it can be very unresponsive and not always react when I tap on the screen Did not have any issue on the Samsung this replaced. Fingers work just fine though but I have always felt that using fingers is not particularly useful as they are attached to hands which of course then obscure much of the screen.I also find that the on/off button is far to easily pressed by the heel of my hand.
Also there seems to be a hell of a delay in notifications particularly from Facebook, no idea if this is a Lenovo thing, an Android thing or Facebook but it does seem longer than the Samsung.
Finally since the update to Android 7 battery power time has severly shortened.
Think I will look at replacing this tablet soon. As you know I was heavily following various Tablet threads, and know you went for this based upon factors including postings on these forums.
I did link to a long long thread about batter issues after an update, but it was not sure if it ever got fixed.
Myself I ended up going with a Sammy Tab A, with 4g, and I must say, I'm very impressed with it, and the batter life seems superb.
I've never played with a Tab 3 plus in person so could not compare.
Either way, sorry that you are finding issues.
I just found the thread for you, all 36 pages of it!
Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Plus - Battery Drain after latest system update - Lenovo Community I posted on Lenovo's Facebook page about the issues that I was experiencing with unresponsive screen using a capacitive pen and battery drain and the only thing they responded about was the unresponsive screen which would suggest that they are fully aware of the battery issue following the last update and as yet have no solution. But also it shows that yet again big business cannot admit they have an issue , apologise and tell us they are working to resolve it.
Not for the first time have I experienced Lenovo's less than ideal customer service and I did vow after the last time that I would not buy another product from them. But on paper the Yoga 3 Plus looked good.
Going up to John Lewis for a play on the Samsung Tab S2 and S3 with a view to going back to a Samsung tablet. One would think, that they must honor a full refund given the well known problem due to their updating of the product.
Best of luck I bought this from AO so could I apply for a refund on these grounds? I've no idea, but I guess logically if you explain battery life went down terrible when you applied an update from the maker, and said you can pass on a 35 page discussion on the makers forums proving this fact that's well known about, one would think any rational person would deem the product at fault.
I am guessing but that sounds reasonable. Cheers mate have emailed AO.
I did not realise until I read your linked thread that this issue has been known for quite some time and yet I see nothing from Lenovo on the subject? No Worries, having a 36 page thread on the battery subject MUST count for something!
And proves it's not just you having an individual moan.
Let us know how it goes. Good Luck, Contacted AO who I bought it from and fair play they managed to get someone from the Lenovo technical department to talk to me who assurred me that they were generally unawre of this issue even when I pointed out the 36 page post on their own forums.
Anyway the tech girl got me to install Lenovo help which showed an issue with the battery and I couldsend it off to Germany (free) for a repair I replied that under UK law I could get a refund as the product is deemed to be faulty and she agreed as is organising that also.
Off to John Lewis to buy a Samsung. Well done.
It's shocking/amazing/scary that a thread on Lenovo forums, over 36 pages long would be totally unaware of.
I guess it's when you have a large company and people only work in certain departments.
Like at my place, the "ladies" in the office for the most part don't have any clue about what's going on, on the shop floor or how things are made, less than 50 ft away as it's not their world.
Glad it's gone the way you wanted it to.
You going for a S2 or a S3.
There's a GIANT leap in price between the two for, dubious? real world reasons, unless you desperately need a pen etc.
The S3 is very nice, but for me, who just uses a tablet, in reality for basic stuff, I'd struggle to ever justify it.
Unless I played intensive games a lot and could really appreciate the extra speed when under heavy graphical loading.
