Samsung Battery
My wifes Tab 2 10.5 model P5110 tablet which is around 5 years old is playing up.I replaced the battery in April 17 and it has operated since perfectly until now.
The battery now appears to be flat, when the charger is connected the normal battery representation appears on screen and the gold band appears in it, however instead of moving along it stays at the bottom and then the display goes off.
The tablet refuses to operate with the charger in also, I have tried a second charger with no improvement.
My question is do you think it just needs a new battery although its only 17 months old or is it the tablet itself. I would suspect the power supply circuit inside the tablet has given up the ghost. A 5 to6 year run is pretty good. While the component which has failed would be a few pence, getting it fixed will cost as much as a new machine.
My reasoning is that if it refuses to turn on with the charger in place,it's a hardware fault...By the way is the charger the standard mini or micro usb? Or is a special one.If it is the micro usb ,there is a trick you might try... Get one of those battery packs, and charge it up,with the charger. When all the lights are one, connect it instead of the charger and see can it turn on. Sometimes at turn on the power required might be more than the charger can supply. It's unlikely to be the solution ,but for 5 quid, not a bad test.. and you will have the battery pack for a future. If you bought a cheap 3rd party battery it could easily have failed in 17 months, particularly if it’s charged frequently.
