Was that with a 2018ti?

2080ti even

A 2080.

Performance depends on the game and what SteamVR resolution you set.

The Toms Hardware review of the HP Reverb isn’t a bad one overall.

I like the resolution but 3 years on it really needs wider FOV than Rift and Vive.

The problem with increasing the FOV is that you'll lose PPD, it would mean that your 2160p displays won't look as good.

I've just finished watching the Tested review of the Reverb and that has confirmed my decision - I won't be getting a Rift S and Reverb, I'll be getting a Rift S and a Yaw VR Motion Simulator instead.

Those black levels are terrible, and that's a deal breaker for me personally given how much I play Elite Dangerous and Horror games.

The Pimax is LCD and I tried ED the other night. Pitool now has settings for Brightness and Contrast which makes a big difference as you can fine tune it to your tastes. Maybe WMR and SteamVR will incorporate the same features in the future.

Personally I would be happy splitting the difference, that resolution but with a FOV around 130. To help with needing a monster pc supporting multiple refresh rates could help. Everyone who used the S have said 80hz is fine so having that as a lower level would be cool. TBH I think the valve index sounds just about right in terms of hmd specs (higher res is always welcome of course)

Best HMD for simmers...   C'mon Amazon, get some stock!

aoaaron Publish time 2-12-2019 05:34:19

Yeah I agree. Increasing the fov is a good shout. It’s just the price tag which makes me feel like 1k for a bundle of compromises is a bit annoying. However at least with the valve bundle, the controllers and light houses are somewhat future proof.

@Tiger Feet its not Amazon's fault, there has been a technical issue and HP are holding back on release.
