I managed to extend the HDMI to my HTC Vive by 10m but I had to use an amplified HDMI cable.

There is similar available for DisplayPort but it ain't cheap and the bandwidth is only 10.8Gbps, which I'm not sure will be enough for the ROFL-S resolution at 80fps.

Come across this cable on Amazon which claims 17.28Gbps, enough for 4k at 60Hz so should be plenty for the ROFL-S and for the Index apparently.

Mixed reviews but cheap enough its worth a try.

Also some fibre DisplayPort cables at 10m available but they ain't cheap.

Long extension cables for DisplayPort aren't cheap because they need active cables over 5m I think, and because they need a lot of bandwidth it can get expensive.

I managed to extend mine with a 1.8m extension cable here:

But anything longer than that is going to be pricey I think.

You could try that KabelDirekt one suggested above, I had an HDMI extension cable for my OG Rift and it worked fine.

How did you get on with this? I'm facing a similar issue soon. Rift s on its way for Xmas and pc in cupboard outside room.

@philip5660 works absolutely fine. I've got the cable suspended on pulleys too and it works really well.

I'm not sure if I'm asking the right person the right question. I'm looking for feedback on the kabeldirect display port extension for the rift s. Was yours the vive with the hdmi?

I've extended my original Vive and now my Index by 10m successfully.

Here's my Index post: Valve index VR headset

The cable I used was quite a bit more than the KabelDirect. Pretty sure I recall reading elsewhere that it didn't work for the Index.

The Rift S uses DisplayPort (me finks) and is less demanding than the Index so I reckon this should work fine for you also.

Ah OK that other thread I think helps more. I was a bit dubious about the kabeldirect solution as it seemed to cheap. I have experience of ruipro cables so I know the costs to expect. I think I'll follow exactly as you have done for your valve.havent got my hands on the headset yet but indeed it appears as though I need display port and USB
