Is a 2070 a decent upgrade from the 980Ti?

My VR gaming PC currently has a 980Ti in it.

I'm going to end up with another gaming PC I think, one for downstairs for the TV.

I have most of the components for a second gaming PC, except for the GPU.

The 980Ti will probably be enough for some 1080p gaming on a TV so thought I might as well - within a budget - upgrade the VR GPU.

Is this a good option?

It will be fine and defo an upgrade however if it were me I would go for a 2070 super or 2080 super if going the NV route.

The 980ti is a stonking 1080p GPU

What Res will you be gaming at on your gaming monitor? And what VR headset are you building for?

My 1080ti is perfect for QHD gaming on top settings and knocks it out of the park for the rift...

Whilst it is ok for the index and pimax 5k IF I was buying a gpu today for those headsets I would want the absolute fastest I could possibly get .... Certainly higher than a 2070

Thanks yeah just 1080p gaming on the non-VR PC and the same old Rift on the VR PC.

Keeps crossing my mind to upgrade but there's no ideal headset on the market currently in my price range.

You might want to wait a few months, it won't be long until the next GPUs from both Nvidia and AMD are released next year.
