is emby available on apple 4k tv?
I have a DS414, I found movies would stutter, I think, because Plex, just seems to want to transcode, even if it doesn't need too. Or, it could be a slow network connection
I now have a shield, which plays well
you could try Emby, from what I remember, you go to package centre, settings, add Emby Package Server for Synology to package sources, name is Emby LCC
it should then show up, biggest problem I had was setting up path to movies, but it does seem to play better

I run Plex on a Synology 218and it works perfectly with around four other friends/family connecting to it also.
I've seen this before so hopefully can help. The issue is you have not rebooted the NAS before a re-install.
Try these steps
1) Go to Package Center, select Plex
2) Click the 'Action' drop down and select 'Uninstall'
3) REBOOT
4) Back to Package Centre, search for Plex and reinstall.
5) Then, within the Plex package screen still in Package Centre, from the left hand box click the link labelled 'URL'. Tell us what address it says.
What model is your Synology? The one's on the synology store are very old. There are newer versions but you must get these directly from Plex and they must be correct for your version of Synology as there are a few.
I would recommend using the package center even if they are older versions, if Plex remains broken get Emby from the Synology package center dont manually install it from Emby website.
Emby client is available for the AppleTV 4K.
You can also use InFuse to read the NAS and don't need a media server either, InFuse can scan network shares and auto build visual library. MrMC (AppleTV Kodi) can also connect to Emby servers.
