Draytek Vigor 120 connection

I have just acquired this to use on a temporary basis. From the research, I have done it should connect straight away but this isn't the case.
I am currently with Plusnet and I was expecting the internet light to be constantly green when connected but to no avail.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
I have updated the firmware to the latest version that was issued in 2010!!

What i have had to do in the meantime is setup my faulty modem router in modem mode and use my Netgear R7800 which was an access point now as my router. I have a feeling that i might have to change the setup on the Vigor 120 V1 but I can't see how?

Thanks.

Hi

Sorry not the same router but last weekend I tried to set up my netgear D7000 router on PlusNet and I could not connect because my users name was incorrect.

Have you double checked that the username and password is correct?

Thank you

Looking online it is showing the router as a ADSL router, are you on ADSL or VDSL?

You shouldn’t have to touch the Vigor 120, but as sep8001 has said the modem is just a bog standard adsl/adsl2modem, ie it won’t work on a vdsl2 (FTTC) line. If you definitely have adsl, then do a factory reset on the Vigor and then try again - you will need to setup a pppoe connection on the R7800, assuming that is what plusnet use.

I'll do a factory reset and see what the outcome is. Lik i thought i shouldn't haven't have to do anything with the Vigor 120. I am on ADSL and not fibre.
I'll report back with the outcome.

The Vigor 120 was really designed to sit in front of a 28x0 router on WAN2 to be used with multiple ISPs, load balancing, etc.But of course it can be used stand-alone, but it's not a NAT router (many computers sharing a single connection).

I take it as you're expecting the 'Internet' LED to go green, you have configured authentication, and you're getting a sync (DSL light permanently on)?If you haven't configured either PPPoA/PPPoE, you won't get connected. The difference is whether you get the Vigor 120 to authenticate, or your computer/other device. There are pros and cons to using either method.

Please ensure your firewall is on whichever method you use!

Hope this helps.
