I've recently added the BT Whole home kit (3 discs) to an existing network.I now have 2 Wifi networks, but I was impressed that my Sonos Play added to the Wholehome network, found its buddies without any additional work. Not had any problems in the last month since installing. It's enabled me to provide Wi-fi to a garden office 30m from the house.

Hello there. Would you recommend these for an external garage. It’s only about 2m away from the corner of the house, and made with brick?

I would say you should be fine, but as I mentioned above I can connect to a wood cabin about 40 ft from the back of my house (and nearest disc) yet the stone built shed out front and only about 15ft from the nearest disc is a complete blackspot.

I cant see it being a problem for 2 metres

I’m looking to purchase 2 or 3 discs. Would it be better to wait for the premium version assuming they’re released soon instead of purchasing the standard discs?

Has a new version been announced?

The current discs are fairly decent if set up properly. My place is an old farmhouse, sort of two houses knocked through into one. I have thick stone walls that previous routers couldn't cope with. It's a very long property and we now have full coverage.

I use 6 discs well placed and it all runs off a 4g router with a 20 quid a month unlimited data sim.

I assume the premium version is the new yet to be released version?

Yup, the Premium version is tri-band (uses a dedicated tx/rx for inter-disc communications and backhaul, Tri-band AX3700), it's been announced but isn't shipping yet. There's also a Mini version (which has been released) which has lower throughput (Dual-band AC1200) than the standard discs (Dual-band AC2600).

Do we know when the premium version are.being released? I’m close to pulling the trigger and I’m seeing them in Argos and amazon but not in stock as yet

The best place to watch may be the BT website - BT Premium Whole Home Wi-Fi two discs (093592) | BT Shop

Could be a good chance of some deals on the existing BT Whole Home wi-fi kit during Black Friday/Cyber Monday as they seek to clear stock.More than happy with our Whole Home system and hard wired all the units for the backhauling.
