Pc to amp to tv fail

Hello,

In can’t figure this one out. I’m going from media pc gtx 760, hdmi to pioneer elite amp sc 87, hdmi Sony 65x850c. I can get a picture when booting, and the first windows logo. Then video blank but still audio. Sometimes solid red line on right of screen.

I’ve tried several different hdmi cables, hdmi straight to tv from pc (worked), dvi to hdmi, hooked up monitor and tv, monitor worked pc couldn’t recognize amp or tv connected through amp.

All drivers are up do date. I read about a similar issue and some said I need an active hdmi, it in order but it’s my last idea. I can bypass amp for hdmi and run audio to amp, not my preferred choice.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Well we know there's nothing wrong with the PC or TV if they work directly.

Do you have anything else with an HDMI output you could hook up to the amp to make sure that's working? DVD Player etc.

That hardware is all a few years old, has the setup worked in the past and stopped working or is this a new setup?

The nVidia control panel often provides several timing options for 1920x1080/FHD so it's worth scrolling down in the resolution selection part of it and trying the others if they're there. (or 3840x2160 if that's what you're using, and your amp is compatible with it).

I have several components hooked to
The receiver tivo, ps4, nvidia shield, Nintendo switch. All work with no issues at all. I have tried setting the resolution of the pc from 480 to 4k and different refresh rates 24, 30, 60. The odd thing to me that I can see the pc boot, the windows logo and even enter the bios. When the desktop is loading I get nothing.

The full desktop resolution and video setup is not loaded until you reach the desktop.
As you can see the boot sequence and splash screens this strongly suggests that some video parameter of your desktop setup is incompatible with the amp.

You have already checked resolution, go through your color space settings.

I believe I’ve tried adjusting that but I’ll make sure this afternoon. I did notice that my pc is recognizing the receiver as an audio device. I was able to set up Dolby atoms through one hdmi and use a dvi to hdmi adapter for video. This was just for testing

Just having a look at the manual the settings on the receiver I would try are
* page 83 set vcon to off and res to pure, pcinema and pmotion to off
* page 86 set the 4K/60P output to 4:4:4

See if that changes anything, the PC desktop must be limited to 8-bit output (check GPU driver settings), if you can connect to another display make sure it's set to 8-bit first, you can't do 10-bit RGB 4:4:4 over HDMI 2.0 at 4K/60.

The receiver has a windows 8 certified logo so it must have been tested against a PC to get this I would guess. You'd think they would have added a dedicated PC HDMI port for automatic setup.

Thanks, I’ll try that next. I tried adjusting the pc color setting like someone else recommend but it didn’t do anything. Still waiting on the active hdmi to arrive and I ordered a display port to hdmi that I’ll attempt. Right now I’m getting 4k 30hz RGB from a dvi to hdmi straight to the tv and Dolby atmos audio from the hdmi to the receiver. It’s good for now but not my optimal set up.

So something you suggested worked. Right now through hdmi to receiver I’m getting 4k, 30hz, RGB and Dolby Atmos. If I increase the hurts to 60 I lose the RGB option and it going to ycb222 or something like that I think. The colors look more vibrant in RGB. This is solely a rig for watching movies with my hue lights. Any thoughts on hz vs color settings?
