What is the best graphics card I can get for 300 Watt PSU?
What is the best graphics card I can get for 300 Watt FSP Power supply? I have attached an image of the specs of the power supply. I have read a GTX750Ti 2gb might be okay? I only want to do it for casual gaming - as long as its better than the intel onboard UHD graphics from i5 8400. I will upgrade the power supply and graphics card in the future but I can't afford to upgrade it at the moment. Thanks in advance for any answers. Is this power supply going to be dedicated to the graphics card? If so probably a Vega 56 or GTX 1080ti, although both are far more than you need for your requirements so essentially it's not a limiting factor.If it's going to be powering other components then it obviously depends on how power hungry they are as to how much spare capacity there is for the graphics card.
I'd go for an AMD card for gaming. A 7790/260/360 or RX 460 if you're buying second hand, or RX 550 or 560 if new.
Although integrated graphics is very powerful these days and the UHD630 on the 8400 would generally be considered enough for casual games. What sort of games are you talking about? Thanks very much for your answer. I don't play games all the time but I wanted a graphics card for emulation. Considering I spent all the money I have so far on a pc I might just upgrade the power supply after all when I have more money. Something like this PSU Calculator really helps - it's a guideline but you can enter your specific components to get a good idea. Emulation can have completely different demands from normal gaming, so you're better off asking about GPU choice on a forum dedicated to the type of emulation and emulator you're interested in. a 300W psu will not comfortably power a 1080ti under load and OP is right to ask the question, you are wrong to give this advice, considering other components a 600w minimum is what i would recommend for a 1080ti.
Not to mention FSP is not a particularly great PSU and a good PSU is what I would recommend anyone wanting to build a PC. Id be surprised if that PSU was reliable at all and definitely not trust it to power a high end graphics card, you are just asking for trouble. Not only that I would even be surprised if it had the connections compatible for a 1080ti
To Answer OPs question, if you dont wnat to upgrade PSU, then you need to operate within the safe limits of power loading for your PSU, even then, I receommend you replace the PSU before seeking out a GPU.
But if you must go GPU first, You haven't actually mentioned a budget/resolution here, but look older gen because newer stuff is disproportionately more expensive.
The GTX 1060 is a good shout if you want a modern card, the 1050ti uses even less power draw.
For older gen 950ti should be OK but for emulation purposes your CPU is what matters but obviously that means a complete system upgrade, a GPU isn't going to make all that much difference here I believe you misread my post.
The last three FSP units reviewed by the highly regarded power supply review site JohnnyGuru all scored 10/10 for build quality. Fair play about the reviews but I would still be veryreluctant regarding using an unknown brands PSU in my system, even for a cheaper build, I'm not sure if that particular model uses the Yate loon fans, but they are known to be unreliable.
Regarding the first few lines of your post, they could be very easily misconstrued by a novice coming across this thread and taking your advice. That's why I felt the need to correct you on the matter Unknown? FSP? Fifteen or twenty years ago, Fortron/Sparkle used to be one of the big three, along with Antec and Enermax.
They're not as popular these days now brands with more gamer-oriented marketing are the big sellers (Corsair, EVGA etc.) but calling them an unknown is doing them a great injustice.
s/clarify/correct. Just because they have been in business a long time does not mean they are well known. Unfortunately they have also made quite a few PSUs of shoddy quality using cheap unreliable parts (just look it up for yourself) which kind of destroys a lot of credibility going forward.
Corsair are well known, evga are well known, cooler master are well known. Fsp are not.
