1070 GPU problem - any ideas

Morning all!

Picked myself up a 1070 aero oc from ebay for a strangely low price - not one to question, arrived nice and fast so couldn't complain. Pop it in my machine (i5 6600, 8gb ddr4, h110-r mobo, 500w evga psu) and it works in the sense that windows detects it as a generic display adapter (but locks it down to about 4 different resolution options), but every time I try to install the proper device drivers it either ... fails, goes to a black screen mid install or completes the install, detecting it in device manager as a 1070 but with the error triangle for an error 43, which seems a common error on google.

I had a 1060 amp in before which was working fine, and putting that back in again now and reinstalling the drivers for that, still works fine...

With the 1070 i used DDU to clean all the drivers etc off the system before reinstalling, several times, but I still get the same error, tried installing through device manager (where it always fails), g force experience and as a standalone driver from the nvidia site.

Also worth mentioning, as soon as I mentioned the issue to the seller, they were very quick to say for £30 I could just keep it and they refund me the rest - which makes me think they knew about the issue

anyone have any ideas? or does it look like a hardware issue? Ideally id pop it in another machine to test, but none of my mates have a gaming rig...

Have you tried installing the drivers using the 1060 then changing the card out, it should use the same drivers as the 1070....

but it does sound like they knew it was not working.....

I have and no luck. I showed it to a chap at work who used to have a pc building business. He spotted w few things on the card, cooler has been remove, some marks here and there. He said not to spend any more time on it
