Ryzen motherboard and gpu suggestions
HiFollowing on from my last thread there was no issue with my i5 or motherboard. The issue was with the mbr on my operating disc. That said having done a small amount of research I have decided to update my components.
I have just purchased a ryzen 2600 cpu, I would like some suggestions for a decent motherboard that can in the future have an NVMe drive or m.2 for my operating system without taking away from the onboard sata ports. I’m not sure if that’s how these new SSDs work but thought I would ask here for advice.
My case can take both atx and Matx boards. Is there any advantage to the smaller board for cable management? In the past I have always bought an atx board.
I would also like a gpu recommendation for a card that can output in 4k at 60hz for my desktop. I don’t have any gaming needs but the card will be in an htpc case.
As for ram I’m assuming 16gb ddr4 at 3000/3200 is the way to go?
Sorry for all the questions, I have been out the loop for a long time.
Thank you for any advice. I too have the Ryzen 5 2600 and I'd suggest that you update the CPU firmware as soon as you can. I was having lock ups (core errors) and found that I had my Windows Update on manual.
Once I ran the Update all is well. Thought I'd give you a heads up. Thanks I will keep that in mind. This is the board I am considering:
PRIME B450-PLUS | Motherboards | ASUS Global
The ram I seen 16gb vengeance 3000mhz.
Unless I should pick anything else?
The graphics is where I don’t haveany ideas.Would a gtx1050ti be sufficent? I'm curious, what i5 do you have? I had my i5-3570 mobo died so I'd built the Ryzen system but it was a Ryzen 3 2200g at first. I happened to have an i3 system so it's upgraded with the goodies off the i5 including the i5. I have an i5 2500k, asus p8p67 pro, 8gb g skill ddr3, gtx460.It has been my htpc for several years, overkill when I bought it as I neither played games or overclocked it.
The old gtx is looking sharp (for browsing) on my 4k tv but it only outputs 1080p. I suppose I could use the card in my Ryzen build until I find out more about graphics cards.
What do you have in your Ryzen build?how does it compare to the i5? R5-2600, Gigabyte ab350m-ds3h (370x chipset), 12 gig Ballistic Sport and Sapphire HD7770. The R3-2200g was slightly faster than the i5-3570 but the R5-2600 is a whole new ball game.
Passmark:
i5-3570 = 7106
r3-2200g = 7424
r5-2600 = 13521 @Backspace That's quite the difference, sounds like a great build Thanks. Yours ought to be too. Yes sure it will be. I'm considering this card:
