Using my RGB header to control room lighting?
I've just purchased a new motherboard which comes with RGB headers (Fusion), and I was wondering whether it would be possible to connect the RGB function on my PC to some kind of room level ambient lighting. Such as LED strips, or bulbs.I currently use Philips Hue, which I don't think is linkable. I believe the headers drive the lights directly, so you'd need to find matching room lighting (same voltage etc.) and I'd imagine the headers are only capable of a few watts output which may not be enough to light a room.
Or you'd need a device that pretended to be an LED and converted the electrical signal into a data signal appropriate for whatever control system the room lighting you want uses.
I'd say it's a no-go.
Gigabyte offers an SDK for their fusion system so if you're using other ports to light up your computer you could potentially integrate that with software to control your room lighting from your computer via wi-fi.
