Help me choose the best option.

My desktop pc is 5 yrs old and recently stopped powering up. With my limited ability I tested the psu as I thought that was the problem but it was working fine. I gave up trying to find the issue and the pc is now with the company who originally built it.
It turns out the motherboard is faulty (Asus Z87-A). It is currently paired with an intel i7-4770k processor.

The Z87 is now discontinued, so I’m looking at replacing the motherboard and cpu. The options I’ve been given are as follows:

Asus Prime x-470 Pro with AMD Ryzen 5 2600 CPU
or
Asus TUF Z390 Pro with Intel i5-9600k CPU

I only use the pc for general browsing and photo editing (no video), and must have an optical out to connect to my amp.
Any thoughts on either of the options I’ve been offered?

TBH both are fine, I imagine the Ryzen is cheaper and if you prefer to upgrade, the socket it uses will be around for a lot longer than intels. But your original setup is fine too so personally I'd grab a 2nd hand z87 motherboard and get some more years out of the original setup.

I ended up with a brand new, unused Z87-PRO from a UK seller. It’s been installed and tested and will be back with me in a couple of days.

Superb service from Chillblast.

I vote for Asus prime, but I doubt you'll notice the huge difference

even if you just browsing and not run huge graphics tasks, you may look on something lower-tier gear
