Monitor upgrade for photo editing

Hi guys

Looking to upgrade my monitor for photo editing only-no gaming.I am thinking 27" 2K

My PC is has H81M-E board,Intel Core i5-4670K Processor 3.40 gigahertz,16Mb memory.
There is no hdmi outlet on the board, could use an adapter or get a graphics card which will have a hdmi socket.

Will I have to buy a graphics card for this upgrade and any recommendations. My current setup works fine with Lightroom etc.

Thanks in advance for any advice

So you're looking at 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 monitors?

If that's an Asus H81M-E then it does support that resolution so no new hardware is needed:
H81M-E   | Motherboards | ASUS United Kingdom

I'd expect a lot of 1920x1080/1200 image editing monitors to have DVI inputs as well as DisplayPort and HDMI.

If I make the step up to a 2560x1440 display any recommendations for a graphics card.

I believe the cheapest up to date cards are the RX 550 and GT 1030, although at and less any of the old ones should do the job too.
