HDMI connection to a TV fails to connect
I have an HDMI cable between my Tablet PC and my smart TV but am unable to connect. HDMI is enabled on the TV but just reports 'no signal'. In Settings on the Windows 10 PC when I try to connect to a second display it says it is 'not found'.I have followed advice on my usual computer forum and online, eg. checking driver update. Nothing has worked so far. So it's a cable from an HDMI socket on the tablet to an HDMI port on the TV? There are no adaptors?
If so then that is an unusual issue.
My first suspicion would be that something is faulty or damaged. Do you have other computers/cables/displays you could try in other combinations so you can verify all three parts are working independently?
Is the screen (or any unknown devices) showing up in device manager? Yes, and no adapters, just the cable. No other devices to try.
The screen ie. a TV is not showing up anywhere, not even when I try to connect with wireless which is odd as my wifi network is working OK---- so perhaps this means the problem is not with the cable connection?In Devices and Printers the PC itself has an exclamation mark (!) and its troubleshooter identifies there are problems with PnP devices, but does not fix them.
However, my cameras are not working. So I am trying to resolve that first --- a scan by Intel(R) reports all drivers are OK.l am going to go back there and specify camera OV2680 driver installed in 2016 which Windows reports as 'the latest and best'---- my experience has been that it always does, regardless of whether a better driver can be found. And it's an HDMI or Mini HDMI socket on the tablet?
There are a couple of different wireless casting standards, so it may just be that your tablet and TV don't have one in common. Incompatibilities there aren't unusual so I wouldn't take that as evidence of anything. The output to the tablet screen has more in common with the HDMI output than the wireless mirroring protocols do, and that's obviously working.
Although if you've got multiple compatibility problems there's a good chance there's an underlying problem rather than three or more unrelated issues. It might be worth running the Windows 10 Reset function to start off from a fresh install if you haven't already.
