help please...how to fit ssd drive to hp prolient micro server?

hi all,

about to get a ssd drive for windows 7 for my hp prolient micro server....not sure what version it is...a few years old so would be one of the earlier ones...but think the innards are mostly the same sort of layout.

just wondered how easy ...or which is the best way to fit one..

get a bracket for the ssd drive and slot in in internally like a normal sata drive?...if that would work?

plug into a sata cable round the back and free up the the internal dive for a nother sat hard drive?

...got a bluray drive in the top bay so cant use that.

are any extra power cables needed ..or will the drive comne with it...think i might have a sat cable somewhere.

any hepl/guidance would be most appreciated.

cheers

Depends on what you're likely to do. SSDs are lightweight and not affected by movement so unless the PC regularly gets moved it'll happily sit lose in any free space. Although you may want to attach it with tape/velcro just so you don't forget about it when you do move the PC.

Thanks ...was going to use it as an operating system drive for Windows 7....just had a sata drive go wangyso just put a 250gb one I had laying around ..and just finishedreinstalling everything..

Did think about removing that and keeping it as a spare...then getting a new one...just found a deal for a 250 GB SSD drive for about 30 quid with a bracket and postage ...looked like a good deal and might be worth trying as the reliability on them is meant to beso good

You would have to check this out further, but it may mean you can mount the SSD in the removable bracket. Cabling would be another matter.

Bracket

yeah not sure what cabling i would need if i was to fit one in to a bracket.......which i'm assuming would then fit inside one of the prolient's caddys.

there is a Esata socket round the back .
