Tower recommendation for everyday Family use

Hi all,

I'm in search for a PC Tower that can be for everyday Family use. Internet use, Kids Homework, a bit of online Gaming (though not too much, so not a key driver here). Have suffered from slowness in laptops before, so looking for something that I could look to change processor etc, as and when required.

Budget around the £300 mark. Any tips?

Thanks

What sort of online gaming? There's a world of difference between a browser based text game and Battlefield 5.

Although at £300 you don't have a great deal of choice. The mainstream machines are only just starting at that budget so it's just going to be a case of buying whatever goes on offer/gets discontinued.

You want to avoid anything with a 32GB or 64GB (eMMC) drive, and think hard about whether a 128GB SSD would be too small. Avoid anything with the old AMD A# processors or Intel's low power N or J suffix models. Avoid systems with 2GB of memory. The most common acceptable cheap configuration seems to be an Intel 7100 CPU, 4GB of memory and 1 TB hard drive.

If your gaming involved any sort of graphics then it's well worth upgrading to an AMD Ryzen 2200G processor which has a much more capable GPU. You can get a 2200G, 8GB of memory and a 256GB SSD for around £400.
