Help me choose a laptop

I’ve moved into a new house and I can’t find a space for my desktop so I need a robust laptop to replace my (very high end) tower.

got a budget of £500
What I want from it;
Want it quick and slick, no endless boot times, waiting for programmes to load.
Will be torrenting and using excel a lot.
Will also be streaming to fire stick upstairs using plex so needs to be able to handle that.
Would like a nice tactile keyboard and basically something that’s not knackered after a couple of years of use so longevity is important.
Seen a major retailer are doing a HP pavilion for £500, i5 but only 128ssd, I want at least 256. And also I think they charge £100 for windows and office.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance

Desktops can be very small these days, screens can be wall mounted and mice and keyboards can be wireless so you don't need much more worktop space for a desktop than a laptop.

If you do go down the laptop route you're looking second hand, you're not going to get a high end machine for budget prices new. Ex-business machines are a good bet for robustness.
