Dell Inspiron 5000 series 14" or 15"
My brother is looking for something he can use at home and take with him to watch films/tv series whilst working away (U.K hotels).I thought a Lenovo 530s or Dell Inspiron 5000 series. The Lenovo's seem to get panned a bit (15") for having a dull screen, so wondering how the Dell's fare in that department, and if the 14" is better or vice versa. Both are FHD IPS and that's about as much as I know. There are three 5000 series 15" models currently available on Dell's site, the 5570, 5580 and 5584, as well as the 14" 5480.Going by notebookcheck's review of the 1920x1080 version of the Lenovo 530s I can't see anything in the screen measurements that puts it significantly below similar laptops.

It does have a matt anti-glare coating, which may be responsible for the perception of dullness.
Unfortunately notebookcheck don't seem to have reviewed any non-touchscreen Inspiron 5000 models. Thanks.Have told him when he gets the chance to go along to Currys/PCW and have a look.Hopefully they'd allow him to plug in a memory stick with some media clips he's familiar with.
