mcbook ssd issues

Hi guys, Need some advice, im pulling my hair out with this.

Soooo, gets friends dads MacBook. Folder flashing icon, no boot. Ok so the drives dead. That’s fine, drive out, in my machine hd tune. All read sectors, horrid ticking noise. Cool ok new drive needed.

Fired in a spare one of mine, nothing, recovery boot, usb boot, nothing. Not showing in disk utility, back to windows used transmac on my machine to format it, same thing in the MacBook. Nothing

So I wonder, couldn’t be the cable. So I say he says order one there only 8 quid off amazon. Oh can I get an ssd as well. No problem.

Cable in , drive in, nothing, wouldn’t show, usb caddy however, drive shows, high sierra installs, and put back in the mac it boots. Weird

So I give it back week later, doing the same thing. I tried to fix it and now it gives error screens.

Ok so I get it back. Flashing folder icon. Hold option key no bootable drive, into recovery mode, disk utility, drive shows, verifies and repairs fine.

Still cant boot. So I try to do a full reinstall, only ever gets part way and at the restart section where there is a loud beep it just doesn’t come back on, I need to power it up, and it gives me a high sierra firmware install error.

OOOOK , so I put a spare hdd in, installs fine, do all the updates, then use super duper to clone it over to the ssd fresh. Fire it in, away it goes. Restart a few times. Works. Champion, put it all back together, back on and that.

Decide before I see him next week to use it to see if it just randomly does it with me. And lone behold, I Power on, I get a flashing folder icon, I boot holding the option key, no other boot devices, I boot into recovery drive shows, verifies and allows repair, start up disk option shows no drive to boot from.

Im AT A LOSS. Someone please help me L
