Gaming pc
Hey guysLooking at getting my lad a budget gaming pc for Xmas. He’s not into serious gaming he just plays Fortnite, minecraft and Roblox so nothing fancy is needed
What’s a budget spec that’ll be capable of running these games without costing a fortune?
Thanks guys Ryzen G-suffix processor and two 4GB sticks of RAM would do.
You could add a £100 graphics card like an RX 560 for the ability to enable prettier settings and run more games but we're expecting new models in the next few months based on the new architecture that're significantly faster so it's not the optimal time to buy. Check out www.novatech.co.uk
Picked up a decent gaming PC for £380 off there this week. Having a look on eBay what’s the ones for £200-300 like? Most come with a i3/i5 8gb ram and gt710 or gtx1650 Both examples you mention are often scams.
The GT710 is an old GPU design from 2013-2014 and slower than modern integrated graphics in games. But it carries the same Geforce branding so unscrupulous sellers will advertise it as a gaming system.
The GTX 1650 is very capable but costs £150 on it's own, so any ~£250 PC including one is an old second hand PC worth £50-100. In the worst case they can be a decade old with major limitations on gaming performance from the lack of CPU power and memory bandwidth.
If you don't mind the disadvantages of second hand parts (more likely to fail, more power consumption for the same performance, often noisier) then going down that route can result in a faster system. I’ve just had a look on the website of a local pc shop I used to use a few years ago and there selling a gaming starter computer for £270 is it any good?
AMD Ryzen 3 2200G Quad-Core with RX Vega GFX
Asrock A320M-HDV AM4 MATX
8GB DDR4 RAM
120GB SSD
CiT 500W PSU Builder Black
Aerocool V3X Gaming Case RGB Does it come with a HDD and SDD ?
Ideally you want a bit more storage space than 120GB Just a ssd I think. I suppose I could ask them to add a hard drive if needed but he honestly doesn’t do anything other than play them 3 games Ryzen are good processors and 8GB of DDR4 should be adequate for most gaming. I'm no expert though. Which games in particular does he want to play ? He only really plays roblox at the minute but he has played Fortnite in the past but he’s gone off it at the min but would like it being capable of being able to run fornite
