RTFM springs to mind... possibly take a photo-copies of important pages with you so you can be reminded "how-to"
Also, make sure you know how to transfer / save / copy the files and that they are the Quality you expect . . . there are Low-Res options that should be avoided if they are being mixed with HD material...
Same applies to Battery-charging and management . . . I usually mark batteries"!, 2, 3etc."so they can be charged/ used in turn... If I forget and recharge the one that already in... that's laziness, I know.
It could take more than a few weeks to learn...
"Buying" is the easy-bit....
