Replacment Housing Lens
https://www.avforums.com/attachments/20190906_091933-jpg.1192882/ Hello, I am having problems finding a supplier of plastic replacement lenses that go behind the front bezel on SJ type underwater housings. The lenses I am looking for are about 1 inch in diameter, made of plastic and are round in shape.I have seen sets of two including the bezels that are way to high in price. I need to buy just the lenses in quantity at a resonable price. Thanks for any help you can send my way. Hi, Welcome..Not sure if this is for some "project" - or I'll presume yours is broken...?
Unsure why you want "Quantity?".
For one as a replacement, try the Manufacturer. It's just possible they would send/sell one, if you provide the Serial number, etc.
Failing that, try on-line supplier of glass camera-filters ( something like Skylight, or UV should do ).... but the Dia thickness may not be exactly the same. This might suit a "project" although yr Msg wasn't exactly clear on the "reasons". Never mind, eh?
Hope that helps...Cheers. Thanks for the reply. I have tried to contact manufactuers. SJCams replied asking for a video or photos of my problem. I sent three including the one posted here and have not he a rd back. Most want to sell glass but not in my budget. This leads to buying in quantity. Not that it should matter but I will give both reasons. To ship one of these plastic lenses will cost the same as if I order 100.I use these housings to protect the cameras while clamped to race cars. When running on a dirt track the lenses get sand blasted and if you want quility video you need a new lens every ra e. At least on the cameras facing forward on the car.
I posted here as a last resort to see if anyone as seen these things for sale on ebay or amozon or for a company the bought a action cam from. I can buy a complete new housing for $9.50 USD. I figure these plastic
lenses should by 1 dollar a piece in bulk.
My next step is to buy a round one inch die and sheets of .040 lexan and stamp my own in the same shop as we build the race cars we run. Thanks, Phil tomtomracing.com https://www.avforums.com/attachments/20190517_155215-jpg.1193285/
