Sony camcorder HDMI problem
Hi,I have a Sony NX30 camcorder and the HDMI port seems to have stopped working.
When I attach a monitor nothing happens.
However this has only just started happening. It used to work fine.
Anybody any suggestions? Simplest fix to try would be a new cable? Yes already tried that.
No difference.
I’m starting to think it must be fault. There is a problem with all these connectors - lack of support, so any cable-strain in put on the pcb. It's just possible you've strained the connector and broken the signal path. Sadly the only fix is to take the thing to a repair shop and hope it can be fixed.
If it's still in G'tee then you might try Sony - but as with most Mfrs these days, they may not want to know.... e.g. by offering a repair at near the price of a replacement camcorder.
This is an alternative - buy one s/h with HDMI still working, and you'll have a second camera for those Cutaways - or Safety-shots, etc.

Maybe time to look for a replacement altogether..... any thoughts based on yr filming experience with theNX30?
I note that this was reviewed elsewhere early-2012 - so its design is probably over 6-years old....added to which Sony now appears to have dropped those internal projectors - which I thought wouldn't catch-on.
Cheers Yes, I thought it might be broken.
I've asked a couple of repair centres but am not holding out much hope.
You're probably right, it's time for a replacement.
The problem is what to choose without having to spend megabucks. The NX30 is a super little camera which we use as a locked-off shot. Superb quality with a huge 96GB internal memory which means we can record non-stop for over 5 hours. Brilliant when we're filming shows and concerts etc.
Many thanks for your help.
Brian i have a nx30 camera. after 10 minutes of recording. make a new file and not break the old one. so afterwards a real problem with the assembly. please help if anyone knows
