LG 65SK9500 vs Philips 65PUS8503

I’ve already got some threads about choosing a new television, my apologies for any confusion.

I wanted to buy a 55 inch TV, but I’m ultimately going for a 65 inch model.
I’ve narrowed down my options to two TV’s :

Philips 65PUS8503
Buy the Philips 8500 series Ultra Slim 4K UHD LED Android TV 65PUS8503/12 Ultra Slim 4K UHD LED Android TV
Lowest price I could find : €1450 (£1255 approx.)

LG 65SK9500
https://www.lg.com/uk/tvs/lg-65SK9500PLA
Lowest price I could find : €1490 (£1290 approx.)

The Philips has Ambilight, which I have now on my 40 inch FHD. It’s something I’ve come to appreciate a lot, and that I would hate to be without. On the other hand, the LG has Full Array LED dimming, whereas the Philips is Edge LED, which means that the LG offers black levels close to those of an OLED TV.
The LG has WebOS, the Philips runs Android. WebOS seems to be the winner here, from what I hear, but which of the two will be supported longer as far as updates go ?Wouldn’t want to be stuck with a ‘non-smart’ TV in 4 or 5 years…

So, which is the better TV ?Don’t want an OLED, I’ve got my reasons, plus I’m on a budget, which doesn’t allow for a 65 inch model with an OLED panel.

So, basically, it’s LG vs Philips, Full Array vs Ambilight…

Think you've already answered your own question by stating that you wouldn’t like to be without the Ambilight.
I wouldn't worry too much about smart TV apps being not updated as you can always add a dongle like the Amazon Firestick.

Well, the Ambilight is kind of hard to imagine not having, but then I'm thinking that picture quality just has to be better on the LG. Full Array local dimming vs Edge LED just has to make a big difference. Or does it ?

So you’d chose Ambilight feature over picture quality!?

Could just get the LG and add your own lights behind the tv, or Philips hue etc, I know it’s not exactly the same but at least you’d have a tv with superior picture quality
