Hi folks
I too have a Hitachi 42HXT12U, again just out of warranty with the same problem.
Turn on, standby light blinks red & blue, you see the Hitachi splash for a fraction of a second and then no picture. (although it can be seen faintly with a torch)
After looking at the above posts, I had a look for any loose wires/connections. None.
I took the plunge and bought a new PSU (which I believe includes the 'inverter'?) a 17IPS20 off eBay from another 42HXT12U, fitted it and exactly the same problem. :-\
Now I'm stumped.
I had a quick look at replacing the LEDs, but that looks like a horrendous things to do.
So just to recap, if the logo flashes quickly then goes off, is it the inverter or the LEDs?
Thanks in advance.

My daughter has a Hitachi Hitachi 42HXT12U too, After a while the screen goes black, I too replaced the powerboard with one bought cheaply on ebay. It does exactly the same thing, so im guessing its not a power board problem. The capacitors also look fine on the original board, Its as though there is a thermal cut out after so long.. I would appreciate any input to this topic, as im unsure as what to do..

It powers up fine, sound is fine, then cuts out after so long but the sound still on The start up logo also appears fine whilst booting...HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
