Another RV635DB owner here with the same problem. Hope the firmware update is released soon.

I also have a 55sv635 that does it but only when i used to use freeview but now with the ariel is disconnected and i now use sky it has gone away so this should confirm its an overair update issue. This started on my set after 2 days i had the shop send someone to fix it the first time they just tried a firmware update but it did not work then after 2 more visits which included 2 new tuner boards and 2 main boards 2 inverter boards and 2 power supplies i was going to put up with it then got sky and it stopped.TOSHIBA should take notice that we should not have to put up with this-as mine was the flagship full led backlight model which cost me just over £3000,so Toshiba fix this NOW

We actually rarely watch the Freeview as we have a HTPC hooked up to our TV, so I've disconnected the aerial for now as well. Hopefully we should get another confirmation that it's an OTA update problem.

Agree. I have the 46 inch version of the same set and find this most annoying. If it is Panasonic updates, they are hardly a no-name brand, so what is Toshiba UK playing at?Sort it out, guys. Not a good USP for your TVs, as I'm not aware of any other big brand manufacturer's sets that do this.

I have contacted Toshiba yet again for a fix, just to let them know. TV is a 37xv635d
It happening again yesterday afternoon, wednesday 6 July, after coming on OK in the morning. I will turn the options for software update & channel update to ON to see if it makes any difference, bearing in mind the earlier posts about the Panasonic updates.
I'm sure I went through all this prior to receiving the 2.1.77.0 firmware update from Toshiba last Nov 2010. It is a ridiculous situation where we have to either unplug the aerial lead &/or unplug the power to get the thing to respond from standby mode when you next want to freeview.
I keep pointing out to Toshiba that we have an LG lcd in the kitchen & we have no problems with it

I can confirm that my 42XV635 is still having these issues - just tried to turn it on after having it in standby for a couple of hours and it refused to.

Mine was Ok yesterday for the 1st time in a week or so ? Thought it must have been fixed.

Dear all,
I have just taken a phone call from Toshiba! They are fully aware of the problem with the failing to respond to the remote when in standby mode. A fix is on the way, the lady said I would receive a USB stick with installation instructions in due course.
My bleatings via their support page were read, thank heavens.
I was getting ready to send them another missive this evening after todays events, I will not go into them now, suffice to say that I have had to pull the aerial lead out of the TV before switching to standby mode & will wait until I switch it back on before plugging it in again.
Reading previous posts I think we know what is causing the problem; OTA updates for other manufacturers.
My advice today is don't try a software search, there isn't one & you will lock up the display after it tells you there isn't one.
This is on a 37xv635d.

32-inch version with same problem. Costco's concierge (warranty service) contacted Toshiba a week ago who said a USB stick would be sent. Not received as of yesterday so another call to Costco (who in turn called Toshiba) revealed, as you already know, that the fix didn't work which is why the stick wasn't sent. I was then told that the fix would be another week to ten days. I told the Costco rep (who was on the line with us) that I wasn't happy and I wanted a refund - at which point the Toshiba engineer said he would escalate. I got a call back from a manager at Toshiba within the hour saying the fix had now been published and that my stick would be with me by Monday. Let's wait and see then...

hi all i can confirm after leaving the aerial unpluged for a week iv had no standby proublems. also mine locked up when i did a manual search last week (as bertmays did). i cant see why it needs to search for updates if its working fine seems more trouble than its worth to me.
