Funny you should say this but in the past week mine has started refusing to turn on if left in standby for a while again (42XV635)

Automatic updates are still turned off.

Hi, ours has been having the same old problems as months ago. I did upgrade the firmware with a USB stick supplied from Toshiba to the 2.77. version. I left the auto channel update OFF, also the auto software update OFF. We did not have any problems until last week when it would not switch on from the remote. A few days before the not coming on problem I was seeing an on screen message telling me that the red button had moved & that I should retune. For us the red button still worked OK. At that time when it came on with the remote it would sometimes tune itself to the Radio, not the last channel watched.
A few days ago I did a retune, first with the aerial lead out, then again with it in & all has been OK since then.
I did contact Toshiba via email & they suggested I reload the firmware, I have not bothered with that advice.
In my email to Toshiba I did state that we also have an LG, we do not get any of these problems with that TV.
I also discovered that there is not a newer firmware version than the 2.77. . On the Toshiba website there is a message about an over air broadcast coming for TV's in the 735 model range, I just hope that it will only affect them & not be picked up by the 635 models..

Mine actually did a warm restart while we were watching it for no apparent reason today- just turned itself off then back on again. It wasn't a power surge or cut as my UPS would have logged it.

thanks bert iv been having the same proublems as you started this week tuning into radio 1 after being left in standby it seems a upgrade will not cure this it seems the only way to switch on & off is to use the power switch mine has on the lefthand side of the set mine is a lv665d powering it down wont seem to cure it now but its fine if i use the main power switch not standby

I've got mine on a cheapo radio switch so kill the whole AV socket during the night and most of the day (turns off the HT, Sat / Wii / Xbox etc all at once) - hence why I probably haven't noticed it until the past couple of days.

This weird, I've been suffering with the same issue for a week now on my 32RV635DB

I did the standby fix months ago and now its no longer working.

I reflashed it to find no affect.

Turned off the auto update and still won't come out of standby.

I've got 5 years cover with comet so they'll be getting a call if its not fixed soon.

Also happening for me this week with Tosh 46SV685. I've tried re-running auto tuning, but with no effect. Anyone been in contact with Tosh UK, as this seems to be a return of the earlier problems months ago (caused, I believe, by changes in broadcast info). Clearly, not an issue with only a specific model.

Well, after my last post saying it was OK after a retune, I went to switch it on, no go until I did the unplug thing for 10 seconds, then it came on to DTV Radio. Today it came on after a long pause with a green light but again on to DTV Radio. In the past I have seen it do a warm restart, as picbits.
There has to be an over night transmission causing these problems to occur again, the transmission might not be for the Toshiba but it is affecting them. I did read recently that another over air update for other makes scuppered certain Sony Bravia models.
In the Toshiba literiture is says that it will look for channel updates & so on overnight while the TV is in standby mode, are we expected to unplug the thing to keep it behaving itself.
I'm in the Meridian freeview area & will get the full switch over next summer, bloody nightmare if they carry on like this.
