Alexa enabled outdoor speakers

Hi all

I've scoured the forums, but can't seem to find a suitable product...
I'm looking for an outdoor speaker, which is Alexa enabled or at least support Apple AirPlay 2.
Can be mains powered and permanently mounted.
Would also be great if it could connect to the 5GHz wifi network.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance
Anton

I do not think an Alexa enabled outdoor speaker exists at the moment. I think the best that you are likely to get is an IP rated Bluetooth enabled outdoor speaker which you could bluetooth to an echo, which you are going to have to run power to if you want to permanently mount it. If you are going to that much effort, then just buy normal outdoor speakers and cable it back to an amp / AVR which you can either plug an echo into or connect via bluetooth.

It would be helpful to know your budget. I have just installed outdoor speakers on my patio, wired back to a Denon AVR which is connected by Bluetooth to my echo dot. Budget for that project was:

AVR - Second hand Denon AVRX-2400H - £250
Outdoor Speakers - Apart Mask 6C £220
Echo Dot - £25
Speaker Cable - £25

Total £520

This gives me airplay 2, HEOS, wifi, bluetooth and app control of my AVR. You could probably do something cheaper but at least you have an idea of budget for a similar project

Well my daughter threw my bose soundlink mini into the pool so now I need to find a replacement and thought of at least upgrading somewhat. I already have power outdoor and Amazon Prime day is coming up so could probably get an Echo Input for like £10.
Yamaha have a range of outdoor speakers for £100-150.
My only issue then is waterproofing the Echo Input... Is there a better option than a condom?

If you put the Echo Input into any sort of condoms etc, the mics pretty much stop working with any reliability. You would be better fixing it upside down underneath an eaves to weatherproof it as much as possible.

Also I am not aware that Yamaha manufacture powered outdoor speakers for permanent fixing. All of the outdoor speakers in their catalogue require separate amplification, which you would need for an Echo Input to work.

The JBL link20 is IP 65 rated for outdoor use however that’s a Google home device not Alexa I am not clear if they make a Alexa version. I run mine by the pool via mains or battery it connects via an external access point attached to the back of the house
