home automation design
So the area of my apartment is around 210 sq meter and consists of 2 bedrooms (one circuit direct light, one circuit indirect light, one rolling shutter, one blackout each), salon (2 indirect lights circuits, 3 direct light circuits, one motor for the home cinema screen, two rolling shutters, two black out), kitchen ( i dont know the exact number of circuits but for now one indirect light and 3 direct lights circuits), 3 bathrooms, one living room ( one direct light, one indirect light, one rolling shutter, one blackout), balcony (approx. 3 direct circuits). My father already installed an individual circuit for every Application... and one communication line for all the push buttons, thermostats etc..I am also interested in installing a smart door lock for the main entrance And hidden motion detectors in all roomson off for the heating system, and later will add a control unit for the 5 AC concealed split systems I am planing to install in my apartmentThe automation part is missing.. i searched about KNX system and programming it via ETS and that is about a power supply, ip device, actuators etc.. but we never dealt with it.. my father has a solid background in the field but he never installed a knx automation system.
So I thought of consulting a KNX expert before proceeding with any other step, and i believe i did the right choice by having a post here.. does anyone has a step by step tutorial on how to install the KNX automation system? how to use ETS programming tool? is the access to KNX ETS grantedto anyone who buy the system? are there any better alternatives to KNX? Thank you I chose Bticino/Legrand Openwebnet BUS overf KNX.Main reasons were costs and ease of programming and lots of information from users.
I have all my blinds and lights connected. Some sockets and many sensors of various types. I have zone underfloor heating and the room stats all connected too.
Later I added another layer of automation on top called openHAB, Its an open source vendor agnostic home automation platform. There is great support at openHAB for openwebnet BUS and I have been able todo pretty much anything I have thought of so far.
openHAB brings together my home BUS with other smart home devices.

I can voice command Alexa items on my BUSCreate Alexa voice alerts, like a reminder if I left the garage door open for a long time.Presence detection using IP detection of network connected phones and GPS locationCheap weather sensors eg turn off water feature if high winds detectedHarmony remote control of BUS items
I haven't regretted my choice of openwebnet over KNX. It has been very reliable and fairly easy to get quite complex things done... scenarios etc.The programming GUI is bit clunky but usable and free. I think you have to pay for the KNX equivalent.
openHAB brings it all to a higher level of complexity and endless possibilities eg phone apps, data collection, Grafana graphing, own built LCD panels, notifications,,,,,,,, pretty much anything you wantto do there is probably a way. I wish I knew that earlier but I bought the spacelynk. The problem is that spacelynk needs a fixed ip to be accessed remotely. I asked our local internet distributor about getting a fixed ip and they asked for a lot of money. is there any cheap/free way to get a fixed ip and get spacelynk to work remotely? You can setup dynamic dns no need for static ip
