British General smart sockets
Has anyone used these sockets? They're cheap, and no hub needed!/proxy.php?image=https://media.screwfix.com/is/image/ae235/827GV_P?$p$&hash=2eb900c52101db1722ec7cb0c39b593f&return_error=1 British General 900 Series 13A 2-Gang SP Smart Socket White Order online at Screwfix.com. Smart socket that controls power via the BG Home app or voice control. Continues to work when internet connection is lost. FREE next day delivery available, free collection in 5 minutes. www.screwfix.com These look good, I hadn't seen these before but they appear to have been around for a few months now. They appear to be using a version of the Smart Life WiFi modules inside looking at the reviews (which appear to be very good). I have a few devices around the house that use the Smart Life app and they work well. Ah right, got some Teckin plugs that use the Smart Life app. Might try one, certainly better value than the Lightwave sockets.

https://www.avforums.com/attachments/1571998167200-png.1211493/ Interesting bit of kit. Shame about the power buttons. I am kinda anal about the aesthetics of switches and sockets in a room, I like them all to look the same and those round buttons would drive me nuts. I seem to have an excess of smart plugs at the moment (I bought a lot of the Wemo ones when they were on offer at a tenner each at Maplins, RIP). I think that the price point is great and shows that home automation should and can be affordable. May get one and wire it in the garage (out of site and out of mind) to see how nicely it plays with Homeseer. You can see why the likes of DEN didn't get traction when there are products on sale from the likes of BG who can do it cheaper. I have one - works fine... integrated with Alexa. The BG app is pointless apart from setting it up.
The Teckin plug I purchased seems better. Was easier to setup and works with everything. Also the Teckin has power monitoring. Just a heads up, these BG sockets are one of Amazon UK's Deal of the Day today (Sunday 27th) - £15.69 each Thanks I ordered a couple yesterday to try. Won't be here for a couple of weeks though data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 They're £17.50 for 2 or more at Screwfix at the moment You mean £17.50 each if you order two or more.
