Hi,
Thanks for all the reply's on Hikvsion.
As an alternative are Reolink systems a good system, say with a B800 8MP HD camera or a RLC-511   5MP 4X Optical Zoom PoE Bullet Security Camera.
Thanks Sean

First I've heard of it. I've had no problems buying Hikvision products from Use-IP or a couple of other resellers. I haven't needed to return any or needed any technical support though.

Use-IP have a topic on their Forum about not being able to supply Hikvision outside of the trade but that appears to have all gone away as an issue and they sell them openly.
Not sure a retailer in the UK can legally refuse a warranty in the UK for the statutory 2 year period and Firmware appear to be posted on the Hikvision web site.As long as the retailer is still there when you get a problem then I think they would have to honour the warranty - I understand that your legal relationship for warranty is with them not the manufacturer regardless of most retailers trying to pass people on if problems arise.

I wouldn't be buying a 2.8mm lense if you want to see anything at all at 30m.2.8mm is so wide.I use it on my front door for close ups of people coming to the door and to cover a side gate that has a weird angle. You need to go narrower.

You're also not going to get much usable footage at 30m at night from the eaves, in my opinion...
