Novice dilema

hiya,
Looking to buy my first hifi, its for a a bedroom that measures 18x12ft.
Ive looked at 2 bundles at Petertyson, the first is the Yamaha R-N602, with KEF Q550 speakers, with the second option being,Marantz PM6006 UK Edition and NA6006 with Q Acoustics Q3050 speakers. The source will be Spotify, and Android phone.

I really dont know which is the better deal as they are priced roughly the same, or if the speakers are overkill in such a small room.
Amy advice would be greatly welcomed.
Thanks.

With floorstanding speakers it's the placement that is all important. Stick floorstanders in a corner tight against a side of back wall and the result could be a fairly uncontrolled bass response. It's often better to use standmounts that cost the same as these may often perform much better. The downside is that you have to budget for stands and in terms of footprint there will be difference from floorstanders. So consider where you are going to place those speakers.

The Q acoustics would be easier for a Marantz pm6006 to drive and they do seem to partner well. Smaller than the KEFs they would be easier to position as well and wouldn't tend to over power the room.

I'm not going to comment on the streamers as I know absolutely nothing about them.

Id personally always go for a higher end set of standmounters.. Youll get 95% of the bottom end but big upgrade on mids and upper.
The Focal Aria 906's have excellent deep bass and will wipe the floor with anything under a grand.
Is say the Yammy will partner them best.

The Focal Speakers are indeed nice. But you have to serve your personal need. There are plenty of people overjoyed with bookshelf speakers. But they don't serve every need. However that is a decision for you to make.

I would speculate, in general, that an amp like a Yamaha would be good match, though it depends on which Yamha amp you are Yamaha would be are considering.

Also check out the Mission QX-2's, a superb standmount speaker, one that isn't too picky about amps either.
