Pro-Ject Debut S/E3 - still a good deck?

Hi All

I'm looking to buy my first turntable set up, and my budget is fairly small. I'm happy to spend around £400 on the package, but i've seen a Pro-Ject Debut S/E3 on sale for around £75 and at that price it seems like a bit of a bargain.

It's an older table (around 2011 i think) but it seems fairly well specced and had a 5-star review back in the day from WhatHiFi.

Should i go down this route with separables, or go for a more up-to date deck with built in phono?

I have a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon and I'm happy with it. Can't comment on the cartridge that comes with it but I recon anything Ortofon will be decent.
Do you have the rest of the system to plug it into?

I would suggest a demo of a Rega 1 or 2 as both will be in your price range. Both are excellent sound, timing, depth and for the money, they are a steal. And, if or when you decide you want to upgrade, you can always sell on or trade in easily.

For £400 all in that turntable would be a great start, as long as the stylus is in good order. Try to have a listen first if possible. Then you have reasonable funds for an amp - make sure it has a phono input!!! - and speakers.
