Android phone compromised? Maybe spyware.
Hi, I am looking for information on what transpired this morning as I'm a bit baffled but all points towards some sort of malware /spyware in my galaxy 8 phone and wondered if anyone else hashad same issue.Ok, so I was sat this morning with my phone and although it was a miserable 10 degrees outside, my phone weather widget was telling me it was a balmy 33 degrees centigrade and I was in downtown Bangkok!
Curiosity got the better of me and I used my "find my phone" app and sure enough there I was, transported to Thailand?? I guess if my phone had been infected the scumbag got the fright of his life seeing his actual position and before I could get a screenshot of the map, it then raced a few thousand miles back to Blighty as I guess he had logged out of my phone. Or am I being paranoid!
Any way I know there are some clever people on this forum and it will be interesting to know if anyone else has had this issue and what can be done.
Thanks in advance. See if an unknown device has logged on.
https://myaccount.google.com/security-checkup/2 Thanks, good advice, just checked and no extra device logged on, if it happens again, I will check that first. Were you possibly connected to wifi that was via a VPN?Android phones can use wifi and mobile signals to get a location estimate before using GPS.
This might account for the temporary dislocation.
