I just want a cheapie phone, something that makes decent phone calls (how last century), sends/receive sms texts, WhatsApp and takes a reasonable piccie, but I don’t use my phone as a camera. Easy. But, I also want ip67/68 protection, wireless charging and WiFi calling, which means that I have to pay large. Given that I think mobile phones are way overpriced for what they are, I think that I’ll be waiting a while yet for my next handset.

I show my phone pictures / movies on the tv and want the 16:9 ratio for that reason, and pleased to be proven wrong by InvisableKid that it exists for video. Ironic as I was at the Huawei shop today after seeing this review and the sales person didnt think to indicate that there was 16:9 aspect ratio for video.

Encoding in H.265 is great

I have IPhones, then Samsung’s and moved to Huawei 3 years ago and bought the Huawei P9 lite. I paid €279loved the phone and worked perfectly.
The P30lite came out here in Luxembourg in May this year and I bought it for €319. 64GB and has room for a sim and a memory card.
Works like lightning and unless I win the Lotto (I don’t play) I can never see myself paying those ridiculous prices close to €1000.
I have a sim only contract for €5 per month (since October 2014 (grandfathered in today’s price is €10) for 1000mb and use about 600mb as WiFi at home.

Pretty good data usage that!

I use 5-8GB a month on 4G alone.

Its a lifestyle thing I imagine.
I hardly watch any video on the go. I am retired so do not commute. I have a separate sim in my car for routes.

So after having the P30 Pro for 5 days, I've had a chance to see how well the battery perform.

A Day At Home

90% WiFi. Mixed use, Spotify, Facebook, WhatsApp, eBay, Chrome, Calls, Texts, YouTube, Gmail, Discord I'd say most time is spent on Chrome and Youtube. Connected via Bluetooth to Galaxy Watch.

11Hours Screen on time.

A Day at Work

90% 4G. Mixed use. 2 hours Google Maps navigation for driving, 3 hours Spotify, Chrome, Facebook, YouTube , Outlook email, LinkedIn. Connected by Bluetooth to Galaxy Smart, Samsung Earbuds and Car.

8Hours Screen on time.

In both cases, taking it off an overnight charge at 5.30am. No power saving, GPS and NFC enabled. It's basically a beast. After a full work day today, I'm on 24% battery with 6 hours 30 mins screen on time. So in both cases are estimates, as I haven't actually depleted the phone yet for my overnight charge in one day.

Yeah it's a beast.

While this might not be anything too exciting for Samsung owners etc, but it charges like a beast too. I mean proper quick. Full charge from near empty in an hour. As an ex iPhone user this still tickles me months after having the phone.

Even coming from a Samsung, the faster charge was impressive.
