I'm not a fan of how Huawei keep pushing and pushing charging speeds. REALLY not good for the battery. Might be ok for a year or so, but the battery is taking an absolute pasting. Very happy with my S10but each to their own.

I assume that they are doing their R&D with regards to batteries and charging though to minimise any degradation or damage to the battery. Who knows though.
Plus I think that the average life of a mobile phone is less these days with many people changing their phones every year or two on contract upgrades or whatever. Probably more money in it for the brand's if people have to buy a new phone because their battery quality depletes.

Personally fast charging isn't something I find particularly useful anyway. With battery life generally getting better I often only charge my P20 at night which means a slow charge is fine.

I've just come to a Huawei mate 20 pro from a s8 plus, I've been Samsung for the last 5-6 years and fancied a change, and now can't see me going back to them anytime soon after spending time with the Huawei, emui is no worse or better than Samsungs bloatware over stock android, camera is absolutely stonking, and battery life is leagues ahead of any other mobile phone I've used, the p30 Pro was on my radar and the camera looks great, specs in the phone don't look like a massive upgrade over the p20/mate 20 pro though , I'll be looking forward to what the mate 30 pro offers later in the year

I definitely think I'm going to wait to see what the Mate 30 brings. I'm not quite at upgrade time on my contract yet anyway so I'm going to let that tick down then switch to sim only and decide what to do later in the year.
I think the P30 and Pro are great devices in their own right, but I don't think they offer enough extra for the majority of people. If you already got a P20, S9, S10 or similar there's probably no reason to upgrade.

I look after phones at work and normally upgrade ~30 phones each year. Around 90% of them are Samsung from the S3 onwards.

Only failures I've had back are cracked screens and damaged USB connectors due to misuse (and they aren't looked after like your own phone would be).

Actually I did have one S3 go strange where the whole screen went a deep purple colour but it was still usable.

I've had a Sony catch fire and a couple of iPhones with bulging batteries (after 2 year) that pushed the screens out!

Has anybody seen one of these in person yet? Every review I've seen online raves about how beautiful the breathing crystal colour is, but to me, it looks quite girly in the photos. Not sure if it's one of those things that look better in the flesh.

No, not seen one yet. That's the one my sister has ordered so it'll be interesting to see it in the flesh when she gets it.

I did toy with ordering the Pro, but when I went through the checkout process on the O2 website it wouldn't put the payment through and I gave up. I think I'll wait and see what's out nearer the end of my contract now.

I need a headphone jack so it'll be the regular model for me (not sure i could justify the pro anyway). Going to order tonight/tomorrow so as to get the Sonos but can't make my mind up colour wise.

From the photos I've seen the aurora looks the nicest. I've got the dark blue P20 and it's lovely.
As I said earlier in the thread the headphone jack was something I was hoping for which they've only added to the P30, but I also wanted wireless charging which is only on the Pro. Having to sacrifice one of them is what's made the decision harder. I am also only 12 months into a 24 month contract so I've got to pay that off if I upgrade. It's only really worth doing if I can pre-order with O2 as they're offering the extra £100 on trade ins. That would mean trading in my P20 would completely cover the cost of paying off my contract. If I wait until after release it'll cost £100 out of my own pocket which I'm reluctant to spend for such a minor upgrade.

I didn't like the Breathing Crystal, particularly with the default very pale wallpaper. The Aurora was nice, but classy black for me. For me, the higher PPI, flat screen more manageable size of the P30 outweigh the 5x tele of the Pro. The Sonos is better than your average gift!
