New small form gaming pc
Hello All,I am looking to change my spare room around and I am thinking of building, or buying, a small gaming pc. I built the one I had about 7 ish years ago and it is an i5 2500k which now has a 1070 in it. Would happily look at and but if I could keep some components it would keep cost down; e.g., the 1070. I have 2 x SSL’s and a 1TB hdd.
All suggestions welcome.
I game at 1080p and unlikely to move up to 4K.
Budget less than 1k. I would keep the 1070
Look at Ryzen. I would go for 3600, 16GB RAM. It will be a significant upgrade to your i5.
As for cases, i have a corsair carbide air 240. Not the smallest but I find it excellent. Thanks for the reply. I am definitely looking for a smaller case. Like this one

also, do you mean the Ryzen 5 3600? Would that work with this motherboard?

what memory would you recommend? At the moment I am thinking about the following. Would this be okay? Looks good , but try and get a little bit faster ram , 3200 or above , ryzen loves fast ram ,
and for sake of a few extra quid the 3200 will be better ...
Edit , just noticed the PSU is a too weak , look for a good rated 650w or higher too ,
450w won't be enough to run the 3600 and gtx 1070 ... I'm also considering the Phanteks Evolv Shift case for my build, you might be interested in the Shift Air case - that's the one I'm considering it. Heres a pretty interesting vid on the shift case Thanks for the replies, much appreciate.
I assume those cases do not come with fans? Any recommendations?
That Shift case is actually bigger than I thought. Need to measure as I do want to go as small as I can and maybe have something which can sit flat (horizontal). It seems like I can’t get an AM4 m/b which is ready to run Ryzen 3rg gen without a bios update and you need a previous gen cpu to do so. Is there a good intel alternative? look for a b450 "MAX" , these have the bios update ready to go out of the box .
not much to chose from ,

but if you don't know any one with a 2000 series CPU,
or you can't get a shop to do the updated then these are your best option .
