Lego Movie The Videogame - Red brick abilities

Hi

I've looked ask over Google,but I can't find out how to activate the red brick abilities in the 3DS game.

Had anyone played this and knows how to turn them on? I've bought 3,but no idea how to activate them.

I haven't got the game yet but you can usually activate red bricks on the pause menu. I think they're listed under cheats or extras or something like that.

Can't see anything in the pause menu except the 10gold brick challenges.Really want the collectable locator turned on...argh!!

I'm sure it must be something obvious I'm missing...
