Xbox one Elite v S - which is better ?
Hi,I purchased an Elite for £199 earlier in the month but couldn't resist the S with extra controller for £229 on Black Friday.
So the question is which do i return ? - it's for my son who's 8 so the elite controller probably not a big deal for us.
Although we dont' have a 4K TV yet we will in time so the S 4k upscaling does appeal.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Cheers,
Mike. I had to make a similar decision last week, and decided on the s purely for the smaller size and lack of power brick. The elite controller would of been nice but I'd be equally as bad with that as I am with a regular one. Elite has a better HDD as it's a Hybrid SSD,and it has the elite controller. The S has a slight performance increase and UHD blu-ray all in a smaller case.I'd go with elite unless you have a 4K tv, then get the S. the S is better
you need to add the elite controller and
ssd external hard drive I had the elite. Sold it but kept the controller and bought an S. I'd much rather the S, the hybrid ssd doesn't even make any noticeable difference I think you just answered your own question, especially if you're getting a HDR capable 4K TV.
Only the S can output at 4K (for video) and HDR (for some games and video), the Elite and other standard models can not. The console will upscale the games.
The Elite controller is well worth having, but for an 8yr old, it may be a bit too complex and heavy, if it's for yourself I'd say hang onto it and sell the Elite console, if not - do the return.
The Elite does have an SSHD drive so you may benefit from slight faster loading, but I'd guess that's insignificant. The S has a few other benefits, namely the built-in IR blaster that was a feature previously built into the Kinect sensor - so when you turn your S on, it can power on/off your TV, Sky/Freeview and audio receiver all at the same time.
