Question Proper behavior for HDR streaming in Netflix and Amazon?
I have an XBox One S and an LG 65UH8500 TV (both on the most recent publicly released firmware). With a previous firmware version on the TV, there were some significant AV Sync issues that couldn't be resolved, which is why I originally purchased the xbox.Everything is fine now.I would prefer to keep using the XBox as my primary streaming device. There are two behaviors that I am experiencing that I would like to confirm as correct/normal or if something requires repair.1) When I open the netflix app on the xbox one s, the HDR notification immediately pops up on the TV screen, and the TV remains in HDR mode no matter what I watch.Regardless of whether the program has an HDR tag, the TV stays in HDR mode.Is this what happens when everyone else opens the netflix app using a 4K HDR TV?If I use the LG WebOS 3 Netflix app, the HDR or Dolby Vision tag only pops up when the specific HDR program is played.
2) In the Amazon Prime app, when playing HDR content (currently watching Man in the High Castle, S2E8), the HDR tag on the TV pops up when playback begins, but the amazon app indicates that the stream is HD 1080p (when I press pause), and does not indicate HDR.When watching the same episode on the TV app, the app indicates Ultra HD and HDR.When someone else watches a 4k HDR program on Amazon through the xbox one s, does the information show up correctly in the app?
thanks for reading and for any clarification or assistance that is offered. Can't comment on the usng the xbox to stream netflix, but when streaming netflix on my tv (Samsung KS7000), the tv behaves in exactly the same fashion. As it's a native app, the HDR signal banner doesnt appear on the samsung, but when you check the settings it has automatically put your HDR settings on. Doesn't matter what I play, its always got HDR settings on unless I manually change it. Can't comment on the amazon as I don't have it, but I have read that its the same. Didn't think the Amazon app on XB1 S supported HDR yet. I just use the one built in to my tv. I have just bought a Xbox one s, I can confirm Netflix behaves the same on my hisense
On amazon I have watched GT and it did display both ultra had and HDR
