xbox controller update just killed my pad
sounds like a tabloid headline, but ive just had my pad die due to an update.spent 40 minutes on the phone to microsoft to be told only thing they can do is offer me one for 45 quid due to it being out of warranty.im sure ive updated it before with no issue.tried new battery's, etc and the pad is as dead as winston churchill. not happy. ok, what you need to do is:Unplug the PSU from the back of your XboxPlug your controller in to the xbox using the USB cablePlug the PSU back in to the XboxTurn on the XboxWait till the OS is fully loadedNow turn on your controllerThis should have fixed the problem.
Hoe it works for you. I appreciate the reply mate but it's still dead. Couldn't be the old battered pad could it data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Another recommended fix is to take the battery out of the controller, plug it in to the Xbox via USB and leave it for around 15 minuteswith the Xbox on.
If the pad does turn on again redo the controller update. Ok mate. I'll do that next data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Good luck, they're the only two methods of recovery I've come across, the second was on the Microsoft support site so hopefully will work. Apparently the pads were designed not too brick if an update failed and could be recovered. pad is dead data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 i might try an swap the insides of the battered pad (which is fine apart from dodgy shoulder pads) for the exterior the dead pad. frankenstein pad lol. He's dead Jim, well we tried our best.
